- is a part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, a church body with 1200 congregations in the United States and around the world.

- believes and teaches that "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." and as a result "the wages of sin is death." We deserve this but, "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life." In gratitude we live a life of love towards God and our neighbor because "he first loved us."

- has a mission: Shepherd of the Valley exists to proclaim the Good News of Salvation in Christ. Our goals are to strengthen God's flock, through Word and Sacrament. As His ambassadors, we are to reach out to those who do not know the Savior, (The Good Shepherd).
